A space heater sparked an overnight house fire that forced residents to flee their home early Tuesday, the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) says.

CFD says crews were dispatched at 3:50am on December 10 to the 700 block of North Highland Park Avenue after reports of a residential structure fire. When Engine 4 arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back corner of the home. Close

All residents had already escaped by the time crews reached the scene. Firefighters launched an interior attack and searched the structure, confirming no one was inside. The fire was brought under control by 4:07am, and crews then checked the ceilings and walls for any extension.
