RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - The North Carolina Education Lottery has announced that the Powerball jackpot is crawling toward $1 billion, currently sitting as the seventh-largest prize in the history of the game.
The $930 million prize can be claimed tonight as either a $930 million annuity or $429 million in cash.
On Monday, a $100,000 win came from a $3 ticket bought through Online Play in Burlington, and a $50,000 win from a $2 ticket at the Circle K in Fayetteville.
“We love seeing players take home big prizes playing Powerball,” said CEO Mark Michalko. “Hopefully, we will see a jackpot win here tonight.”
According to a news release, the jackpot is the second-largest Powerball prize this year, falling behind the $1.7 billion jackpot won on Sept. 6 in Missouri and Texas.
