President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. has seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, a move that comes amid rising escalations with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s government.

The president told reporters about the seizure as he appeared at an unrelated event at the White House. He did not immediately offer additional details.

The administration has been building pressure on Maduros government with an influx of U.S. forces in the Caribbean Sea and carrying out series of deadly strikes on boats the administration has alleged are carrying drugs in the Caribbean.

The seizure was carried led by the U.S Coast Guard led effort and supported by the U.S. Navy, according to a U.S. official was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
