A driver who allegedly swerved onto a path and hit pedestrians before the car collided with a woman in a mobility scooter has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The incident happened shortly after 7pm on Tuesday evening (December 9) on St Peter's Avenue in Cleethorpes with emergency services rushing to the scene. Humberside Police said they went to a report of a white Jeep heading southbound which hit pedestrians as well as a woman on a mobility scooter.

The force said that the people who were hit were checked out by paramedics and had "minor injuries", while a 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and she is being held in custody.
