A recent string of racist vandalism in Brooks, Alta., detracts from the city's strong multicultural efforts, say municipal officials.
The Brooks RCMP detachment made a public appeal this week for information after white supremacist and anti-immigrant graffiti have been spray-painted nine times across the city, located about 180 kilometres southeast of Calgary, since early October.
The city has also reported stickers promoting “White Lives Matter” have been slapped on objects across the community.
"The frequency and the consistent message of hatred" is particularly concerning, said Cpl. Sharon McCready, especially in a city where almost half of the residents are visible minorities.
Racist graffiti appeared in Brooks, Alta., in the fall of 2025, leading to an RCMP investigation. (RCMP)
