EVERETT — The city of Lynnwood is seeking applicants to fill a City Council vacancy following council member George Hurst’s election as mayor.

Hurst currently holds Position 6 on the council. The position will become vacant Jan. 1, when Hurst begins his mayoral term.

Lynnwood residents interested in serving on the City Council can apply by 4 p.m. Jan. 2. Once appointed, the council member would serve until the certification of the November 2027 election.

To qualify for the office, applicants must have continuously resided within Lynnwood city limits for at least one year prior to appointment to the council. Applicants must also be at least 18 years old and a registered voter in Lynnwood.
