MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Monroe Fire Department hosted a push-in ceremony for a new firetruck, the only one of its kind in Northeast Louisiana.

Rescue 2 was welcomed to the MFD on Wednesday morning.

It is a custom-built Pierce Enforcer with “Jaws of Life” cutting and spreading tools, hazardous materials response equipment, and a full range of technical rescue capabilities.

“The ability to grab tools and to maneuver without having to fight with hose lines and things like that, and able to get to equipment super fast is going to benefit on all aspects of what we do,” said Chris Zambie, captain of MFD.

Rescue 2 can be used to respond to structure fires, vehicle crashes, and high-angle and trench rescue calls citywide.
