MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Senators are expected to vote Thursday on competing plans to address potentially surging health care costs for millions of Americans.

Enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits are set to expire, and some Democratic lawmakers heard from people on the ground Wednesday about what losing those credits could mean.

"The system we have now may not be perfect, but it actually is working," said Susan Stearns of NAMI-New Hampshire.

A group of people working in the health care space painted a dire picture about the possibility of Affordable Care Act tax credits going away in their comments to senators in Washington, D.C.
