FISHING CREEK TOWNSHIP — A former Northumberland County public defender and assistant district attorney is facing DUI charges after state troopers in Columbia County alleged he had amphetamine, marijuana, oxycodone and alprazolam in his system in July.

David G. Albertson, 35, of Island Boulevard, Sunbury, claimed he was watching fireworks and searching for coyotes when state troopers pulled him over in the middle of the night on July 5 at the intersection of Zaners Bridge Road and Church Road in Fishing Creek Township, Columbia County. Albertson, who worked as an assistant district attorney under Tony Matulewicz and Michael O'Donnell between 2022 and 2025, was most recently a public defender before leaving the job in November.
