American Signature, Inc., parent company of American Signature Furniture and Value City Furniture, filed voluntary petitions for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware Nov. 22, according to a news release.
As a result of the bankruptcy filing, American Signature, Inc.’s Columbus headquarters at 4300 East Fifth Ave. will close, resulting in the lay off of 326 employees. Of this number, approximately 256 employees are residents in Ohio, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed on Nov. 21. The company has begun issuing WARN notifications to employees, with notices indicating layoffs are scheduled to begin taking place as of Jan. 20, 2026, and in the two-week period that follows, the notice reads.
