SCRANTON, Pa. — Pennsylvania joins 32 other states that have implemented the shot clock rule in high school basketball.

The PIAA recently approved a 35-second shot clock for all boys' and girls' varsity and junior varsity basketball games starting in the 2028-2029 season.

The timing gives schools a chance to purchase equipment needed and train officials for the long-debated rule change.

“Honestly, I was excited. I think it's great for our game. I think we're at this time now where basketball is going as a whole, I think it's time that we move forward and we update our game,” said Hasiin Dixon, West Scranton’s boys’ varsity basketball coach.
