Cheryl Hines is sharing an update on where she and her former "Curb Your Enthusiasm" costar Larry David, stand while her husband serves on President Donald Trump's cabinet.
When asked whether she's "picked up the phone to call" David during a Dec. 8 appearance on NewsNation's "Elizabeth Vargas Reports," Hines, 60, said, "I haven't, no, because I think he's mad. Because Bobby's in the [Trump] administration."
"I actually would be fine talking to Larry," she clarified. "It's not like Larry and I used to play pickleball and we don't now, you know what I mean? I would really see him at work or things like that. Once in a while, [we'll] have lunch. But I haven't really been around in LA at the same time that he has."
David, 78, is a vocal critic of Trump. Hines' husband, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is the nation's top public health official as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and has drawn bipartisan criticism for his handling of various issues such as vaccines and unsubstantiated links between Tylenol and autism.
"So I don't know; I'm sure things would be fine with us," Hines told Elizabeth Vargas. "And at the same time, I'm sure he's been not happy about politics." Previously, in an interview published by The Wall Street Journal in August, Hines said she was still friends with David.
USA TODAY has reached out to David's camp for comment.
Hines gave conflicting comments about the state of her inner circle following her husband's entry into politics, which began with his presidential bid in 2023. "I have so many things that have surprised me. I think people's reactions to [RFK Jr. entering politics]," Hines said.
"I have some friends that I've known for 30 years that we used to talk about politics together, a little bit, here and there," she said. "But people just started dividing off, and politics is so emotional to some people and some people cannot separate politics from friendships, I guess."
But the actress also said she hasn't lost friendships over politics. "I do have a few friends that I know are just very upset by even Bobby being in the administration. It's very upsetting to them, and I understand that. I respect it," she told Vargas before adding, "I haven't had any falling outs."
"I can't really say yes or no to that," she replied when asked about whether Hollywood is "shunning" her.
