Another advisory vote regarding participation of transgender athletes in girls sports is among the 35 proposed amendments to the handbook of Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, the WIAA announced Wednesday.
Last year, a similar amendment that would divide competition categories into boys/open division and girls-only division limited to athletes born biologically female was among the proposed amendments to go before the 2025 WIAA Representative Assembly.
However before the vote, the WIAA Executive Board changed the amendment to an advisory vote, meaning it would not go into effect if passed as it conflicted with state law .
As an advisory vote, the proposal fell one vote short of gaining the 32 votes needed for approval .
