It has been the best and worst year of Travis Kelce’s career.
Off the field, he is doing amazing. He is engaged to the world's biggest pop star, Taylor Swift, and has one of the most successful podcasts on the planet with his older brother, Jason Kelce.
On the field, though, it has been objectively a nightmare. The Kansas City Chiefs, who have made it to three-straight Super Bowls, are 6-7 and could be eliminated in Week 15 if they lose their game against the Los Angeles Chargers at home and other games don’t go their way.
He was in the center of the team’s most-recent loss to the Houston Texans, where a ball he’d caught a million times before bobbled in his hands before getting picked off to seal his team’s fate.
Kelce opened up on his frustrations during his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason.
"You put in all this f---ing work and hope that it pays off," he said. "And right now, it's just for whatever f---ing reason, man, it's little things. I feel like I've always had the answers in years past. And this year, I just can't find them.
A surefire first ballot Hall of Famer and arguably one of, if not the greatest, tight end in NFL history, Kelce is in his 13th season with the Chiefs.
He will attempt to find what he’s looking for at home at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday in a must-win versus Justin Herbert and the Chargers.
After almost a decade of domination, a loss on Sunday might not only be the signaling of the end of an era in Kansas City, but the end of the legendary tight end’s career as well.
