For the first time in the country’s aviation sector, the entire framework for monitoring technical defects has been overhauled with immediate effect. Continuous flight delays, cancellations, and recent safety incidents have compelled the DGCA to strengthen the defect reporting system from the ground up.

According to the new 12-page order, any scheduled flight delayed by 15 minutes or more due to technical reasons must now be investigated. The airline must report why the delay occurred, how it was rectified, and what measures have been taken to prevent its recurrence, provisions that were not previously in place.
