CHEYENNE — Critical funding needs across the community college system and the University of Wyoming was the topic of Wednesday’s session of the Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee.

The Wyoming Community College Commission (WCCC) presented a budget request emphasizing the immediate need for stable, long-term funding to support career and technical education (CTE) programs across the state.

Executive Director Laurel Ballard told the committee that the agency operates with a lean structure.

“We operate with a staff of just 12 full-time employees,” she said. “...We are not just a pass-through for funding, we are the central nervous system for post-secondary coordination in the state.”
