25 people died in a fire at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa on December 6. The club owners are absconding.
The Ministry of External Affairs is considering cancelling the passports of Birch Nightclub co-owners, the Luthra brothers, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra. On 6 December, a fire broke out at the nightclub, killing 25 people.
According to sources, the Goa government sent a letter to the MEA on Wednesday appealing for the cancellation of the Luthra brothers’ passports. The ministry is reviewing the appeal under the rules of the Indian Passport Act.
The Luthra brothers have been absconding to Thailand since the fire. According to investigating agencies, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra had booked flight tickets to Thailand at the time when the fire brigade in Goa was trying to control
