FWPD mourns officer

A Fort Wayne Police Department officer died this week “after a courageous battle with illness,” officials announced Wednesday.

Officer Justin Koehl died Tuesday at Stillwater Hospice, the police department said in a Facebook post. An online fundraiser for Koehl said he had a brain tumor.

The department asked for people to respect the family’s privacy as his loved ones grieve. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department also shared condolences on social media.
