Trump, Hegseth dishonor our elite armed forces

In nearly five years as commander in chief, Donald Trump has engaged in acts of hypocrisy and brought shame upon this country. Among the latest is his attempt to silence criticism from elected representatives and former intelligence officials.

Exercising their First Amendment right, six lawmakers merely reinforced a message that, under the canons of the Uniform Military Code of Justice, all members of the military have from the days of establishment to now and beyond are duty bound to uphold.

In so doing, they are honoring the principles of duty and allegiance to a nation ruled by laws, not the edicts of one man seeking total power and blind loyalty to him and him alone.
