AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two animal rescue groups in the area are working to find foster and permanent homes for shelter animals during the holiday season.
PAWS in Aiken and Friends of North Augusta Animals have launched efforts to make the holidays easier on the animals they take care of.
Robin Mitchell, PAWS director, recently rescued two dogs found in dire condition. Sophie was discovered hanging by a thin rope and stuffed in a black plastic trash bag along with her brother Otto.
“She was hanging by a small, thin rope and she was stuffed in a black plastic trash bag,” Mitchell said.
Marsha Tumblin, owner of Aiken Motorcycle Sales and Service, saw a photo Mitchell had taken of the rescued dogs. Tumblin mentioned it to Ryan Smith, who works at Kawasaki.
