Two years after a mass shooting in Pine Hills claimed the lives of three people , including nine-year-old T'yonna Major, the community is advocating for new legislation to improve safety measures for children in Florida.
"This is not crime hills. This is Pine Hills," said Angel Grantley during a town hall meeting in February, where she spoke out for her niece, T'yonna Major, affectionately known as YaYa. T'yonna was among those killed in the February 2023 shooting, along with 38-year-old Nathacha Augustin and Spectrum News 13 reporter Dylan Lyons . T'yonna's mother was also wounded in the incident.
