On Wednesday afternoon, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association conducted its mediation of the ongoing dispute between Section 2 and the Eastern New York Ice Hockey Officials Association. The discussions, held over Zoom, started at 3 p.m. and ended just before 7, with no resolution in place.

The ENY NIHOA had previously informed Section 2 on Nov. 13 that “over 75%” of its chapter members planned to abstain from officiating any Section 2 boys’ or girls’ ice hockey contests for the 2025-26 season, citing an invalid Officials’ Agreement which had been ratified this past June. Entering Week 3 of the season, postponements are already taking place.
