Officials have identified the two parents killed in a single-vehicle crash that also injured their two children in El Dorado County on Sunday.

The California Highway Patrol said a car struck a tree on Highway 50 , just east of Kyburz, around 3:11 p.m. An 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were in the car and suffered major injuries.

It took hours to get the children out of the vehicle, according to CHP. Their parents were pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office identified the two killed as 42-year-old Ryan Paul Rizzuto and 41-year-old Danielle Marie Rizzuto, both of Reno.
