Machado makes first public appearance in nearly a year

Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel laureate María Corina Machado embraced supporters in the street, her first public appearance in nearly a year, and after defying a travel ban and fleeing Venezuela. She was last seen at a rally against President Nicolás Maduro’s inauguration in January, where her political party said she was “violently intercepted.”
