BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - There was a fireworks show both before and during Riverside Academy’s state semifinal game last week. The pyrotechnics entertained fans as they entered the stadium, and then Jayden Obiekwe took it from there. The senior running back putting on a show, carrying the ball 35 times for 269 yards and scoring all six Rebel touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Ascension Episcopal. Riverside returns to the Superdome and the state championship game for the second time in the last three years on Thursday. The Rebels have a chance at revenge against Ascension Catholic, the team that eliminated them from the postseason in the quarterfinal round last year.
