Doctors have started issuing new warnings about the cardiovascular hazards associated with strong energy drink usage. This comes after a concerning case study and evidence linking heightened risks of heart disease, stroke, and dangerously high blood pressure to increased energy drink consumption.

According to a recent article in the journal BMJ Case Reports, a UK man in his 50s who appeared healthy—regularly exercising, abstaining from alcohol and tobacco—had consumed up to eight energy drinks every day.

On admission, he was diagnosed with a stroke affecting his thalamus, a crucial part of the brain, and his blood pressure was a startling 254/150 mmHg, more than twice the upper end of a normal reading.
