The life of a 12-year-old girl was brutally cut short when she was abducted, raped and murdered in Somalia . Aisha Ilyes Aden was kidnapped at a market in northern Puntland's town of Galkayo in February 2019, with her body found the following morning near her home, having been gang- raped , her genitals mutilated, and then strangled to death .

Aisha went missing on the morning of February 24, 2019, when her mother sent her to a market to do some shopping. She had been kidnapped and taken to the house of a neighbour, Abdishakur Mohamed Dige, 46, who lived with his mother. Two other men were also neighbours.
