COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The trial for a man accused of stabbing a Colorado Springs police dog, causing it to have its leg amputated, is on hold for now, so he can undergo a mental health evaluation.
Anthony Bryant was in court on Tuesday, nearly two months after K9 Roam was stabbed in Colorado Springs.
If Bryant is deemed incompetent, the trial will pause, and until this evaluation is complete, the trial is at a standstill. The court will review the status of the evaluation in early March.
Bryant’s bond is set at $500,000. If Bryant were to be released on bond, he would go to a mental health facility. His attorney also said in court that he is putting together a safety plan for Bryant if he were to be released.
K9 Roam is currently recovering at home with his handler.
