LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - Some tenants at Lake Lodge Apartments received letters from new management indicating their rent could double starting in January, jumping from as little as $700 per month to $1,400. It is unclear when the property was sold, but a representative of the previous owners told WIS the sale went through in December, meaning they no longer own the property.

Clayton Tronco, a tenant who received the letter via email on Nov. 30, said he has been paying $700 for the past two years. The letter states Tronco will see a rent increase of $1,400, effective January 1st.

“I just think it’s unfair and unethical that they can. I understand they have a job to do, but right here at Christmas time, why pull the rug?” Tronco said.
