T he Rajya Sabha will take up the debate on election reforms on Thursday (December 11, 2025). Earlier, the Upper House engaged in a discussion about Vande Mataram. Union Home Minister Amit Shah opened the debate with the charge that the division of the national song and the politics of appeasement of the Congress led to the Partition of India.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted that the decision to use the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram was not the sole decision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
