Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company is "excited about investment in India," calling its $17.5-billion commitment announced on December 9 "the largest investment in Asia we have made in India till date." Speaking at a Microsoft event in New Delhi, Nadella outlined the company's India-focused AI strategy and said he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a "fruitful meeting" on Tuesday.

Nadella said he informed the Prime Minister that Microsoft is doubling its skilling commitment "from 10 million to 20 million," adding that he met the Minister and Secretary for Labour on skilling earlier in the day.

On the shift in technology, Nadella said the deployment of AI systems is "markedly different than a previous generation IT system," calling AI "a continuously learning system." He said
