Sivakasi (Virudhunagar): A 70-year-old woman’s presence of mind and a pot of water became an unexpected defense against a robbery attempt in Sivakasi early Wednesday morning, with CCTV footage of the incident now going viral and drawing widespread praise for her bravery.

The incident occurred in Palaniandavarpuram Colony. The elderly woman, identified as Maheswari, was engaged in her morning routine of sweeping and sprinkling water in front of her home at around 5 AM. A young man, his face covered with a mask, arrived on a bicycle and observed that Maheswari was alone and wearing gold jewellery.
