The Flames stormed back — except, not all the way back — in Wednesday’s 4-3 loss to the Red Wings at the Saddledome.
Joel Farabee will be credited with sparking the comeback bid. It was, after all, his penalty-shot snipe that started to turn Wednesday’s third period into must-see TV.
But after a too-little, too-late loss, the Calgary Flames ’ first-line forward was adamant he should instead be shouldering a big chunk of the blame.
“My line specifically, we just didn’t come out ready to play,” Farabee fumed after the Detroit Red Wings hung on for a 4-3 win at the Saddledome. “It’s too hard in this league to play from behind. To start down 2-0, it’s too hard.
“First two shifts, my line, we give up two goals. You just shoot yourself in the foot when you do that.”
