In a historic and deeply consequential decision, Pakistan’s former spymaster, Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Hameed, has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM), the military’s public affairs wing, ISPR, announced on Thursday. The judgment marks an extraordinary fall for one of the most powerful intelligence figures in the country’s recent history.

According to the ISPR, the military court found Hameed guilty on multiple counts of misconduct and violations of service rules, culminating in a verdict that observers say is without precedent in Pakistan’s military or political landscape.
