The Michigan Wolverines made headlines Wednesday with the sudden firing of second-year head coach Sherrone Moore, reportedly for cause, just weeks after their 27-9 regular-season finale loss to Ohio State.
“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Michigan’s statement read. “Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
Michigan finished the season 9-3 overall and had been scheduled to face the Texas Longhorns in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31. That game will now be led by interim head coach Biff Poggi, who has stepped in for the Wolverines program in the past when needed.
