Attendance Allowance provides extra cash to people of State Pension age with certain disabilities and illnesses

New figures from the DWP show that Arthritis tops the list as the most prevalent ailment, with nearly 484,000 pensioners across Great Britain claiming Attendance Allowance for it. Yet, there's also a significant number of over-66s – 74,804 to be precise – seeking support for back pain.

Back pain, particularly in the lower region, is a common complaint and while it often eases within weeks, it can persist or recur, especially in our twilight years. A staggering 2.5 million people across the UK grapple with back pain every single day of the year, and many might not realise they could qualify for financial aid to offset any additional costs triggered by the condition.
