Emiliano Sala's mother has accused FC Nantes of “pretending not to be responsible” for the circumstances that led to her son’s death, as Cardiff City continue their £100m legal battle against the French club.
Sala, 28, died alongside pilot David Ibbotson in January 2019 when the small aircraft transporting him from Nantes to Cardiff crashed into the English Channel. The Argentine striker had completed a £15million move to the Bluebirds just two days earlier.
Both clubs presented their arguments to a commercial court in Nantes on Monday, with a ruling expected on March 30. Cardiff are seeking more than €120m (£104m) in damages, arguing the actions of Nantes and their intermediary contributed to the tragedy.
