Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has launched an urgent investigation into allegations that adulterated eggs, potentially containing toxic or even carcinogenic substances, are being sold in local markets. The move follows serious concerns raised by legislator Tanvir Sadiq, who flagged the issue through posts on his social media platforms, prompting immediate administrative action.

According to an official communication from the office of the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Sadiq had highlighted reports suggesting the circulation of adulterated eggs in parts of J&K. Acknowledging the potential health implications, the minister directed the Controller of the Legal Metrology Department to urgently verify the claims.
