A state-wide mobilisation by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on December 11 drew thousands to the streets, with the organisation warning that delays in implementing the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord risk reigniting the Bodoland movement.
The demonstration, beginning at Kokrajhar Higher Secondary and Multipurpose Playground before moving through the town and ending at Bodofa Children’s Park, centred on clauses of the Accord that remain unfulfilled nearly five years after its signing.
Participants chanted for constitutional changes promised under the pact, including amendments to Article 280 and the Sixth Schedule—issues raised again during the 2025 Winter Session of Parliament as part of discussions on the 125th Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
