Nicholas Auckland, who is a heating and energy expert at Trade Radiators, says when boilers are installed, the flow temperature is often set to high at around 75-80°C.

But lowering the flow temperature to around 55°C-60°C helps the boiler use less gas and saves you money, he said. “With very high flow settings, return water is too hot and the boiler condenses less, wasting potential heat,” he said.
