Jennifer Lynn Fay was 16 when she was last seen in her Brockton neighborhood on Nov. 14, 1989.

Fay was supposed to be home watching her younger brother and sister that evening, according to the Globe and other media reports , but she got her cousin to babysit for her and went out with her friends instead.

She made a few stops around her neighborhood but didn’t stray far. She went to a convenience store called Rice’s Market at 769 North Main St., about a two-minute walk from her home on Emerson Avenue.

She also went back home briefly and stopped by her best friend’s house.

The last known sighting of her was by a young man she had been walking with. He told investigators that while he was getting sick in the
