The principal co-hosts of MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” trolled Donald Trump on Thursday morning over comments he made on Wednesday about changing the media landscape to one that is more favorable to him.
That included waves to the -- presumably -- watching president as laughter rang out on the set.
The segment started with co-host Jonathan Lemire reporting, "The president is also inserting himself into the sale of Warner Brothers/Discovery, saying that its cable network, CNN, should be sold off as part of any deal.“
In the subsequent clip, the president told a table of business executives, "I think CNN should be sold, because I think the people that are running CNN right now are either corrupt or incompetent. I don't think they should be entrusted with running CNN any longer. So I think any deal should — it should be guaranteed and certain that CNN is part of it or sold separately. I think CNN should be sold along with everything else."
That came on the same day that Trump berated yet another female reporter who asked him a question, with, "You must be CNN. You know you work for the Democrats. You're basically an arm of the Democrat Party."
Following the clip, MS NOW regular John Heilemann contributed, “The Wall Street Journal and others have reported he's looking for lineup changes at CNN. He doesn't like how CNN covers him. He wants to say in their schedule, which, as we're talking about earlier, dovetails nicely with what I think is a real problem facing this White House is that Trump has been in such a bubble, he's refusing to acknowledge bad headlines, particularly on affordability.”
Co-host Mika Brzezinski pointed out to Joe Scarborough, “Joe, there are a few networks that he likes to watch,” which led to Scarborough and then Brzezinski to both smirk and wave at the camera as laughter was heard off-screen.
“This is not ‘like watch’” Brzezinski pointed out.
“Hi, Mr. President,” Scarborough dryly added, which led to another outburst of laughter.
