The Delhi government on Thursday announced the creation of two new revenue districts, increasing the total to 13 from 11, and fully aligning the revenue department’s boundaries with those of the Municipal Corporation, NDMC, and the Delhi Cantonment Board.

The newly carved districts are Old Delhi and Central North.

In newly formed Old Delhi district, city’s iconic markets — Chandni chowk and Sadar Bazaar — have been added. They were earlier part of central district.

Meanwhile, Shakurbasti and Shalimar Bagh, which were in northwest district, have now been included in the central district.

Model Town, one of the posh areas in the national capital, has been made part of Central North and is now excluded from the north district, according to a notification by the Revenue Department.
