CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- A special dinner was held Wednesday night in Culver City to honor the journey and experiences of refugees.

Nearly 100 people gathered at The Wende Museum for a Syrian dinner and a night of Afghan music. The event was hosted by Miry's List , a community refugee services organization based in Los Angeles.

"These are hard times," said Miry's List Founder Miry Whitehill. "Moving to a new place is extremely difficult, and when you factor in leaving quickly, under duress, not speaking the language, feeling a sense of home sickness, and loneliness ... these are things that make it all the more difficult for refugees."
