Not allowing a goal in five games will win you plenty of hockey games, and that’s exactly what transpired for the Mitchell Eidt’s BMR Express U15 girls’ team as they rolled to the ‘C’ division championship of the Dec. 5-7 Pink On The Rink tournament in Exeter.
Goaltender Ally Van Bakel was the backbone, posting five consecutive shutouts between the pipes, but she was aided by strong defence, including the blueline corps of Kinslee Horan, Casey Crowley, Elyn Hannon and Dana Poppe.
The Meteors opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over rival St. Marys, scoring three goals in less than five minutes late in the second period to stone the Rock.
