The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office had another unusual encounter with a massive alligator on December 9, 2025, making this the second encounter in two weeks.

The sheriff's office noted on their Facebook page that it seems like Sarasota County wants to make an alligator encounter a weekly occurrence.

"Another day, another gator — Sarasota's really determined to make this a weekly series.," reads t he post .

Deputies responded to reports of a 10-foot alligator that had decided to settle right in front of a 7-Eleven at 2751 N. River Road in Venice.

The enormous reptile caused quite a stir, alarming customers who gathered at a safe distance to watch the spectacle unfold.

Recognizing the potential danger, the Sheriff’s Office acted swiftly.
