Mayor Eric Adams has three weeks left in office.

He will leave as New York City’s second Black mayor, and the first one-term mayor in more than three decades.

Much of Adams’ term was marred by corruption investigations into himself and his closest allies.

But his legacy will also include several achievements.

Since taking office, crime has steadily fallen. Adams also championed a phonics program in city public schools and led an overhaul of how the city handles curbside trash.

Before leaving office, the mayor sat down for an exclusive, wide-ranging television interview with NY1 to reflect on his legacy, his achievements, Inauguration Day and more.
