A soap legend has opened up for the first time about his secret grief, revealing his wife has died.

Jimmy McKenna, who has portrayed Jack Osborne in Hollyoaks since 1996, shared that his co-stars have rallied round to ensure he won't be spending the festive season alone following his tragic loss.

Whilst he didn't reveal details surrounding her cause of death, he acknowledged the festive period "has been a wee bit melancholy".

Speaking to Inside Soap Magazine about his Christmas plans, the 72 year old disclosed that his wife Bev, with whom he shares four children, had passed away.
