Gene Simmons may be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a co-founder of the legendary band KISS, but his membership in the flirting hall of fame was revoked after an awkward exchange during a television interview on Monday.

Simmons, 76, sat down with Scripps News anchor Maritsa Georgiou for an interview segment about his Senate testimony in support of the American Music Fairness Act, and things got weird when the rocker commented on Georgiou’s appearance.

“By the way, are you still modeling?” Simmons asked.

Georgiou, appearing surprised, responded, “What?” She then said, “I don’t model, sir.” Simmons replied that he “just assumed” she did. Georgiou ended the interview shortly after the exchange.
