A Flushing man who was convicted in absentia last spring for a 2022 burglary and robbery was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Queens DA Melinda Katz said Michael Fan, 25, and two others attacked a Flushing woman outside her home, tied her up and held her at knifepoint while burglarizing the residence. Her partner saw the incident on video and notified police.
He fled the courthouse during a break in his trial last April and was convicted in absentia of first- and second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree robbery and a single count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
Fan was recaptured in Kew Gardens Hills on Nov. 7. He also faces five years of post-release supervision.
Co-defendant Sihao Wang, 25, also of Flushing, pleaded guilty in January 2024 to second-degree attempted
